Rotary screen printing has many major advantages when used for security purposes. It can print 3-dimensional images with accurately-defined height, width and ink thickness. It is compatible with a wide variety of substrates, such as PE, PET, PP, PVC and paper. Many ink types, from UV, solvent and water-based to metallic, acrylic foam, scratch-off and pearl, can be used. And it can handle large particles sizes.
Applications include:
- Seamless strip solutions: iridescent stripes in bank notes and magnetic striping for access cards and telephone cards.
- Identification solutions for passports, driver licences, certificates and other important documents, often incorporating intaglio and / or the guilloche effect.
- Authenticity labels featuring, for example, iridescent inks, OVIs and colour changing inks
- Opaque scratch-off layers for mobile telephone cards, lottery scratch cards and direct mail
- Three dimensional images or tactile effects.
- Waste-free metallic applications, known as 'hot-foil replacement'.
